Is there an expert gift-giver in your life? The person that is, unbeknownst to you, paying close attention and making a mental list of your interests and comments regarding likes and dislikes year-round?
While I love gift giving, I am by no means the expert previously described. It is a practice that does not come easily to me, and not nearly as easily as it comes to my husband. He purchases in advance, years in advance. His patience is as strong as his intuition - just ask him about the bike he found and purchased for my youngest son's birthday next year, or the vintage t-shirts he discovered for my oldest son that he will someday don in his teens (he's currently 7). The print he bought on a road trip for his best friend, or the vintage bar cart he unearthed for me while scouring an estate sale.
This year for Christmas my goal was to #ReinventGiving and find something that my husband both wants and needs. The fine line that teeters between a gift one is coveting, but won't purchase for themselves and something that will actually be of use and appreciated (unlike the humidor I bought him after he smoked a cigar at a wedding once).
A few years ago my computer was on the fritz and working online and from home, my options were limited. The plan was to have my computer cleaned and to hold out since a new one was not in the cards, nor in the budget. But, when my birthday arrived, my husband presented me with a brand new laptop. He had sold his vintage snowboard collection to pay for it. I got an upgrade and he took the old laptop and has been using it ever since.
When presented with the HP Spectre x360, I knew it would be the perfect gift. No longer would my husband have to wait 3 minutes for his computer to turn on while listening to the "hum" of the motor (I kid you not, friends). The HP Spectre x360 is sleek, light and handles all his creative/work needs + much, much more!
I set it up and took it for a quick test drive; I wanted him to have to do little to nothing upon opening and of course wanted to try it out for myself. Needless to say, I think he will be thrilled, surprised and best of all, he will know that much thought went into his present.
I realize that to be able to give something that is thoughtful and will be genuinely appreciated is a gift in itself. Now you too can enter to win a Spectre 360 to share with someone on your holiday list!
HP is giving away (6) laptops as part of this promotion. All you have to do to enter is comment #ReinventGivingSweepstakes on our Instagram post! What are you waiting for, go forth and do your best giving (you can also check out HP's latest commercial to help get you in the spirit)!
