Going back to work after maternity leave can be a difficult transition. In addition to the myriad of emotions that accompany this change, the physical shift can be overwhelming to navigate (or perhaps we are alone on this one). We asked October's Guest Family Editor, Ariane Goldman of HATCH Collection, to show us her favorite pieces to wear to the office postpartum. From nursing to in-between sizing to comfort to breathability (because hormones!) each piece is as consciously considerate in design as it is gorgeous, and added bonus: the style allows for all pieces to be closet staples for years (or babies) to come!

Jeans only go so far. On a day that you want to feel a bit more polished, a good pant — in this case, The Zoe, a play on the classic pinstripe — is key.

The Anouk Dress marries the luxe look of a high quality knit with a very streamlined, minimalist silhouette, so it's easy to style up or down, depending what's on your agenda.

The Classic White Shirt is one of those pieces that will save you on a morning when you're running late. It looks fantastic whether tucked into a skirt or pant, or worn loose over a legging or jean, depending on your office dress code.

This is the perfect fall-to-winter layering piece. The Jersey Turtleneck has an amazing, comfortable fit and can be styled with pretty much anything. It's super versatile.

The is the ultimate styling piece, pregnant or not. The Over-Under Skirt is meant to be worn over your bump, or just high on the waist if you're not pregnant. The skirt plays on the iconic pencil shape, which is a killer with a great bootie or heel.

If your style is more traditional, the Layering Tank will provide that perfect foundation piece to top with a cardigan or sweater through the fall. It's wrinkle-free and has a silken feel that follows your form, so it's easy at any stage, and it comes in multiple colors, so the choice is yours.

The Sunday has a jacquard weave to dress up its traditional shape, so you can wear with a pretty top or blouse and feel nicely put-together. It's versatile and accommodating.

Sometimes the best work outfits are built in the shortest, craziest mornings. The Afternoon Dress is an effortless one-and-done — through it on, then add your favorite accessories to feel simply chic all day.

The skinny jean is the staple of casual Fridays everywhere. Hatch's (Nearly) Skinny has been adapted for the baby bump, so you still get that great long leg look, but without the discomfort under your belly (at any stage).
