Wake up, wash face, rush to kids room to calm the calls of “Mama!”. Get breakfast, get the kids dressed, slather on their sunscreen and out you go, into the summer sun. Stop. Rewind. You forgot something... We have all been guilty of it, putting ourselves last on the to do list.

In the past it was our common practice to prep everyone (and everything) before even glancing in the mirror. Over time this routine left us feeling depleted and to be honest, resentful. Forgoing your own needs for the sake of time (or sleep) is a slippery slope. While we don't recommend cutting out the latter, there is a better way. Especially when it comes to preventative and protective measures; this summer we are vowing to prioritize our sun safety.

We've been touting the benefits of the Dr.Dennis Gross skincare line for months now.  After trying his at home peels - we quickly became converts, so we of course jumped at the chance (errr, challenge) to try out his newest product, the Instant Radiance Sun Defense Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF

This new-to-us concept of combining a creamy, illuminating color-correcting tinted moisturizer with SPF 40 that protects against both UVA/UVB rays, was a breakthrough for both our skincare and morning routines.

Now, bumping up our summer skin protection is straightforward and thankfully does not entail adding yet another step to our already barebones makeup regime. If you’re going to invest in a new product for yourself, it may as well be one with anti-aging benefits + tinted, complexion enhancing sunscreen - right?

In addition to incorporating a higher SPF to your daily morning prep, here are some easy to remember sun protection tips:

- Wear sunglasses that completely cover the eye, preventing you from squinting. This, plus sunscreen, works best to prevent wrinkles in this tell-all area of the face.

 - It’s important to always apply sunscreen on the lips, since the lips have no ability to tan. Daily application of SPF 15 or higher aides in prevention of skin cancer on the lips.

- Don’t forget to apply sunscreen to your hairline, back of your hands, ears and lips!

- The greatest anti-ager is sunscreen. Rain or shine, sunscreen should be applied 365 days a year!
