We are thrilled to have original Clementine Beauty Editor and founder of Beauty Bets, Elizabeth Dehn, sitting in as Guest Beauty Editor for June. Today, she tells us all about her evening routine, including her go-to beauty products and her favorite unwinding rituals.

I’m a night owl. It’s a blessing and a curse. My energy crashes around 4pm (when my appetite also takes over) and inconveniently picks back up around 10pm. Suddenly, I realize that the day is over and I hardly did a thing! Okay, not really, but it’s at this point in the night that I have to put myself to bed instead of starting something new. Like organizing my beauty closet. Or watching a movie. Or having a what-does-it-all-mean discussion with my boyfriend.

I recently learned that, according to Ayurvedic principles, my primary dosha makes me extra productive between the hours of 10pm and 2am. Since that’s totally unrealistic if I want to get up at a reasonable time, I start my bedtime routine early with soothing, sleep-inducing rituals. Biggies for me include:

1. A cup of herbal tea with lemon and honey (to make it more fun). I love anything by Traditional Medicinals, but especially Kava Stress Relief, Detox, and Smooth Move. (I’m obsessed with, um, digestive health.)

2. Speaking of bathroom bliss . . . I never go to bed without washing my face. Most nights it’s with One Love Organics Vitamin B Cleansing Oil + Makeup Remover, but I always keep facial towelettes on the nightstand in case of exhaustion.

3. Next, I slather on an overnight exfoliating treatment like Ren Wake Wonderful Night Time Facial. To finish, I put One Love Organics Eye Balm on everything — lips, cuticles and my now-diminishing crow’s feet.

4. If I’m home alone or there’s time, I love to take an epsom salt bath to detoxify and mentally unwind. I usually bring along my cup of tea and light a candle.

5. Finally, before my head hits the pillow, I always read in bed, journal or listen to a spiritual podcast (more on that next week!). And if I’m being honest, that’s followed by some sweet, sweet loving. Why doesn’t anyone ever say that out loud?!
