Summer can wreak havoc on our tresses, it's tough when our favorite ways to beat the heat leaves our hair dry, damaged and dull. We asked natural beauty guru and Skin Cleanse author Adina Grigore to share a recipe to help replenish and restore our manes - added bonus: all four ingredients are found in your kitchen!
Heat, the sun’s rays and damage from pool chlorine and salt water can take such a toll on your hair during the summer, but this nourishing mask will help bring the life back to your strands. Greek yogurt has twice the protein of other types of yogurt and will help make your hair shiny and strong, as well as reverse the dryness and frizz caused by heat and sun damage. The amino acids and proteins in avocado are excellent for treating dry hair and scalp, helping to heal and nourish.
Raw honey will strengthen strands that have been hurt from exposure to chlorine and salt water damage, and flax has omegas that will add tons of moisture and nutrients!
INGREDIENTS (Approximately 3 uses)
¼ cup full-fat Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon raw honey
¼ cup avocado
1 tablespoon ground flaxseeds or flax meal
1. In a small bowl, stir together yogurt and honey.
2. Once the honey is fully incorporated, add in the avocado and then stir in the flaxseeds.
3. Use your fingers to apply to your hair, root to tip, and leave on until you feel it drying, then rinse with warm water. Store extra in the fridge for up to a week!
p.s. Now that you have nourished, it's time to exfoliate!
