With summer winding down, we couldn't help but enjoy one last opportunity to soak up our favorite perk of warm weather: outdoor festivals! So this past weekend, our executive editor Erin Loechner packed up and headed to Highland Park for this year's Food Network in Concert as a special guest of Citi. Take a look!
Food Network in Concert is a celebration of all of our favorite things: food, music, sunshine and creativity. There was just something so inspiring about being surrounded by so many artisans immersed in their crafts, whether it was chefs, musicians, DJs, cookbook authors or show hosts. And artisans they were.
From the many musical guests performing (California Wives and Raul Midon stole the show for us!) to the dozens of bite-sized morsels to be sampled, the event was a feast for all senses: sight, sound - and certainly taste!
Our day was a bit overcast with tiny pockets of rain, making the Citi Lounge the perfect spot to hide away. With enough snacks and refreshments to feed a small army, we cozied up with other Citi card holders to relax on furniture and watch looped episodes of Culinary Beats, an original series presented by the Citi ThankYou® Preferred Card.
Speaking of the Citi ThankYou® Preferred Card, have you heard of it yet? You get double the points on dining out and entertainment, whether at the drive-thru of your local coffee shop, catching an afternoon movie or enjoying your favorite concert. Bonus rewards for celebrating your own everyday? We'll toast to that!
Although there were so many bright spots in the day (you can take a peek at the endless adventures with #CitiThankYouRocks hashtag on your favorite social channels), the true highlight of our day was Citi's Farm-to-Turntable Presented by ThankYou®.
If you've been reading Clementine Daily for any small portion of time, you know how much we value a great meal. And as lovers of healthful ingredients, Citi's unique farm-to-table dinner was a true experience.
Featuring a handful of Chicago's best chefs and hosted by Geoffrey Zakarian (from Chopped and Iron Chef fame!), each course was beautifully presented to the beats of DJ Alexandra Richards. From burrata peperonata to foie gras torchon, the flavors all paired beautifully with a specially selected wine flight.
Our personal favorite? Dessert, of course - a decadent dish created by chef Jeff Mahin spotlighting ash-baked mission figs, vincotto, ricotta dolce, tea-infused cream, vanilla and candied lemon. (Are you drooling yet?)
And with full bellies and a splash of decaf coffee, we stepped into the brisk evening air in a final musical hurrah as the tunes of Phillip Phillips and John Mayer ended the night.
Tell us, have you ever attended a food and music festival? It was such a unique experience! Here's to the celebration of our favorite things, and for the Citi card that makes it happen!
