We all have them; habits that keep us from feeling like our best self. Habits that we know aren’t serving the purpose that we hope but we just can’t seem to let them go. Maybe it’s the afternoon sugar fix. Maybe it’s a few too many drinks at happy hour. Maybe it’s the fast food habit when we’re short on time. Maybe it’s skipping workouts in favor of another hour at the computer.
Whatever your vice, we know all too well how hard they can be to break. But we’d like you to join us in breaking bad healthy habits once and for all. Curious? Check out this foolproof idea from our resident wellness expert Robin Long...
One simple way to break a bad habit is to replace it with a new one. Inserting a new, healthier habit is a practical step proven to re-wire your brain and help you break free of what can often feel like and unbreakable cycle. The key is to have a plan in place and put it into action. Next time you’re tempted to grab that 3pm candy bar, pour yourself a nice, refreshing glass of iced-green tea instead. Or next time you’re tempted to order that extra margarita ask the server for a glass of Pellegrino with lemon and notice the way that makes you feel.
Breaking bad health habits doesn’t have to be a miserable process. It can be empowering and freeing. The key is to have a plan in place and focus on how good it feels to create new habits that help you to become a healthier, happier version of yourself.
