10 Questions To Ask Your Mother - Clementine Daily

There is no relationship in our lives quite like the one we have with our mothers. Admittedly frustrating and challenging at times, we firmly believe that the mother-daughter relationship is something to be cherished and nurtured. Growing up and starting our own lives makes us realize not only the sacrifices our mothers have made for us over the years, but also the awesome fact that they too had to figure things out on the fly—much like we are now. So today, we’re offering up a handful of questions to ask your mother.

Here’s to getting to know your very first gal pal even better than you already do!:

  1. Outside of family members, who inspires you the most?
  2. How would your childhood friends describe you?
  3. What is better about the world today than when you were growing up?
  4. What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?
  5. If you could instantly have one new skill (i.e. foreign language, musical talent, public speaking, etc.), what would it be?
  6. When did you know you had found the one?
  7. When did you know you wanted to be a mom?
  8. What was the hardest thing about being a mother? The most rewarding?
  9. If you could go back in time to any period in history, where would you go and why?
  10. What question would you ask your mother?

  1. I love this. I’d be very curious to hear my mother’s answers for #7 and #8. I think I’d also ask which qualities I possess that most remind her of herself, and if the adult version of me resembled the fantasy she had of what I’d be like when I grew up.

  2. This makes me wish I was close to my mother. However, this would be perfect to break my future mother in law out of her shell. She can be shy at times and I would love to pick her brain.

  5. What a wonderful idea to cherish the very special relationship, mother-daughter! Those questions are inspiring and very meaningful. Most of us are caught in a mindless daily rush when we don’t even try to stop, sit down, and talk. I do stop, and take the time to talk to my amazing daughter, but I do not think so that it is enough. I will have to think of ways to do it more often. Thank you very much for the inspiration!

    • Love what you said, sweet Anna. We all need a reminder to take time for things that really matter. Cheers to more time with your daughter! Best wishes.

  6. “Why did you tell me you wished you’d never had me? And why did you keep calling my sister fat, and me stupid?”

…On second thought, perhaps I’ll ask my mother-in-law some of these instead.

  17. I just came across these questions to ask your mother and I think they’re great! I want to make the most of the time I still have with my mom as her cancer has pretty well taken over her entire body. When I see her suffering, my mind seems to go blank and I feel almost speechless. Thanks for the inspiration. It will be a great way to get to know her in a way I never have.
